The Beckman Coulter AutoMate 2500 family is a group of high-throughput sample processing units with pre- and post-analytical capabilities. They increase productivity and efficiency in medium to large clinical laboratories by automating labour-intensive tasks such as sample identification, decapping, recapping (optional), sorting, and archive preparation of sample tubes. All instruments of this product family have been designed to offer unlimited system access thus providing a unique flexibility at minimum hands on.
The AutoMate 1250/2550 is additionally equipped with an aliquoting unit. It uses disposable tips to eliminate any carryover and is able to generate up to 7 daughter tubes out of one primary sample tube. The daughter tubes are labeled on the aliquoter system automatically with a barcode to eliminate any sample mix ups during diagnostics.
Features & Benefits
Automates your sample-processing requirements
- Streamlines workflow with maximum throughput of up to 1200 tubes per hour with decapping and sorting.
- Minimises your staff’s biohazard exposure, reduces errors, and reduces repetitive motion injuries associated with manual sample processing.
- User-defined applications for sorting, decapping, and archiving.
- Barcode reader identifies commonly used barcode formats including Code128, NW7, Int. 2 of 5, Code 39, and ISBT Code 128.
- Handles a variety of tube sizes and heights (10.5–17 mm diameter, 70–110 mm height)
- Flexible decapping of all commonly used primary tube closures, including both rubber and screw caps, in parallel.
- Can accommodate customised racks for analysis or storage including Beckman Coulter and 3rd party sample racks.
- Creates 300 secondary tubes from 300 primary tubes per hour
Expect greater productivity and increased efficiency
- High capacity with customisable input and output sort areas. The input area holds up to three trays containing up to 300 samples.
- The 6 output-sorting drawers can hold up to 1080 samples.
- Parallel sorting and archiving of samples undertaken.
- Access samples without interrupting operation via electronically controlled drawer bays.
Flexible sorting capabilities
- Camera station recognises sample tube type and size and can also be used for sample material recognition.
- Rapidly sorts a variety of sample tubes to meet peak load demands and stringent TAT requirements.
- Archiving can be performed either in parallel to sorting (to shorten the total work shift) or as a batch after routine (to maximise the diagnostic destination area).
- User defined sorting areas accommodates any analyser sample rack.
- Reduces the number of "problem tubes” at the analytical workstations due to presorting.
Enhanced software including image analysis
- Easy to use, reliable touch screen graphical user interface with real time update of the instrument and sample status.
- Specimen tracking enables quick identification of samples at the sorting areas or in the archive tray.
- An image of every tube is analysed and stored to determine sample tube size, type, cap colour.
- Software package allows definition and customisation of unique sorting rules.
Tailored, expandable system configurations
- Sorting definitions, and sorting areas with automatic tray recognition, can be changed in the software to meet the changing needs of the laboratory.
The system is available in two configurations:
The AutoMate 1250 (Sorter/Aliquoter) Standard configuration
It offers full functionality for clinical laboratories at a throughput of up to 800 samples/hour.
The AutoMate 2550 (Sorter/Aliquoter) High Speed System
It increases the throughput of the system to a maximum of 1200 samples/hour so is ideal for laboratories with large and extra large workloads.
Beckman Coulter's AutoMate 2500 family – the system that grows with your needs.
